The rosters for the NBA All-Star Game is chosen in two ways. The starters: two guards, two forwards and one center, were chosen via a fan ballot. The reserves: two guards, two forwards, one center and two players regardless of position, were chosen by votes among the NBA head coaches in their respective conferences. The coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players. If a player is unable to participate due to injury, the commissioner will select a replacement.

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant won't play in the NBA All-Star game on Sunday due to an aggravated ankle injury. He will be replaced by Dallas point guard Jason Kidd on the Western Conference roster.

Philadelphia's Allen Iverson will also miss the game to be with his sick daughter. His place in the Eastern Conference will be filled by New York forward David Lee.
