Mountain West Conference champion and BCS #3 the TCU Horned Frogs will play against the Big Ten champion and BCS #5 Wisconsin Badgers on New Year's Day as both teams head off to Pasadena for the 2011 Rose Bowl.
The Horned Frogs are the first team from the Mountain West Conference to ever play in the New Year's Day bowl game. TCU has finished two consecutive perfect regular seasons and has appeared in six bowl games straight. The Rose Bowl is their second consecutive BCS bowl game.
The Badgers began their season with a nonconference winning sweep over UNLV in Las Vegas, and San Jose State, Arizona State, and Austin Peay at home. Although a conference opener loss dampened their season, Wisconsin got back by winning seven consecutive games, including a win over former #1 Ohio State.
